Finding Rest in God

Matthew 11: 28   “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest”   We live in a busy world, with busy people, with busy schedules. Everything is moving constantly, and sometimes we forget to take a break. We’ve developed such a pro ductive mindset that anything outside of working is called ‘lazy ’. This isn’t me encouraging you to spend hours on social media and not feel guilt y , or watch that 3-hour movie, or even play that video game for 10 hours straight. All those thing s aren’t rest; true rest is dwelling in God’s presence.    If we are truly made in the image of God, then we are to follow the example that He has set us. If we go all the way back to Genisis, we are introduced to the idea of rest. God rested on the 7 th day of H is creation. But why? Why would a God that is all powerful and never sleeping need rest? I don’t think God needed rest, but rather to show us an example of the very thing He  requires us to do. ...

The power in His name

Philippians 2:10-11   “ that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth, and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father”   Throughout the last couple of years, I’ve had a lot of in consistencies with my relationship with God. Whether it’s doubting God’s plan, do ubting H is love for me, or  doubting that H e is in control. One thing I’ve never doubted is the power in the name of Jesus. It seems that when all things go wrong, when trouble comes in a crashing wave, or your met with a situation that surpasses your c apabilities , that name triumphs everything.   Jesus. A name that brings the duality of comfort and weaponry. Jesus. A name that transcends time and order. Jesus. A name that heals every brokenness. Jesus ... a name that holds more power than you are aware of.   In order to really understand the weight of Jesus’s name, we must first understand what a name is, and how that points to...

Your mistakes don’t define you

Proverbs 28: 13   “Whoever conceals his transgressions will not prosper, but he who confesses and forsakes them will obtain mercy”   Recently I’ve made a few irrational decisions and for a while , I’ve had to live with that guilt and disappointment. It’s made me unmotivated; it’s made me pessimistic, and it’s disrupted every aspect of my life: including God. If you're like me then when you make decisions that you're not happy with , it can feel like your whole world is going to end.     One thing the enemy has been trying to plant in my mind is that I’m not deserv ing of being loved, or I’m not deserving of good things to happ en to me. But let me tell you something, all of that is a lie, they are all things the enemy wants you to feel because he knows that if you feel like you're not deserving of love, how will you ever accept God’s love, and if you can’t accept God’s love, how could you ever accept salvation ? You see how such a small plant of...
